Database Maintenance
InSched includes database maintenance tools for keeping your data synchronized and up to date.
Update Database
Select Tools > Update Database from the menu to open the Update Database dialog.
Update Event Changes
Click Update Event Change to process any pending event change records in the database. This ensures that all event modifications are properly reflected in related tables and synchronization targets.
This operation is typically needed when:
- The system was interrupted during a batch operation
- Event changes need to be reprocessed after a recovery
- Synchronization targets need to be refreshed
Re-Synchronize Data
Use the re-synchronize options to refresh cached data and ensure consistency between the local workstation and the central database.
File Maintenance
Database file maintenance operations help keep the database performing well:
- Compact and repair operations
- Index rebuilding
- Temporary file cleanup
When to Use
- Routine maintenance — Run database maintenance periodically (e.g., weekly) to keep the system performing well
- After interruptions — If the system was shut down unexpectedly, run maintenance to verify data integrity
- Before major operations — Run maintenance before large data imports or end-of-period processing
- Performance issues — If the system feels slow, database maintenance may help by rebuilding indexes and compacting data files
