Viewing Charts

The EMR Viewer provides a comprehensive interface for browsing and viewing all documents in a patient's chart.

EMR Viewer Layout

The viewer is divided into several panels:

Document Tree (Left Panel)

A tree list displays all documents in the patient's chart. Documents can be organized in three views:

Switch between views using the By Date, By Plan, and By Section buttons.

The tree supports multi-selection — hold Ctrl or Shift to select multiple documents for batch operations.

Thumbnail Panel

When a multi-page document is selected, individual page thumbnails appear in a side panel. Click a thumbnail to jump to that page. Thumbnails show a preview of each page's content.

Document Viewer (Main Area)

The main viewing area displays the selected document. The viewer automatically selects the appropriate display mode:

PDF Viewer Features

The built-in PDF viewer provides:

  • Page-width zoom by default
  • Navigation pane with page thumbnails
  • Bookmarks panel
  • Attachment support

Document Actions

Right-click a document in the tree or use the toolbar for these actions:

Editing

  • Edit Page Info — Change the document's section, dates, plan, event, provider, or title
  • Edit Page Content — Open an RTF note for editing in the rich text editor

Scanning and Importing

  • Scan Document — Open the scanner to add pages (also accessible with F4)
  • Add File — Import a file from disk into the chart
  • Import Scanned Chart — Import pre-defined letter templates

Organizing

  • Split Selected Pages — Break selected pages out into a separate document

Exporting

  • Export File — Save the document to disk
  • Create PDF from Selected Items — Generate a PDF from one or more selected documents
  • Print PDF from Selected Items — Print selected documents as a PDF

Deleting

  • Delete Selected Items — Remove selected documents or pages from the chart

For patients with extensive charts, use the view modes to find documents quickly:

  1. By Section — Find all documents of a specific type (e.g., all Progress Notes)
  2. By Date — Find documents from a specific time period
  3. By Plan — Find documents associated with a particular treatment plan

Double-click any document in the tree to open or preview it.
