Patient Labels and Printing
InSched provides several options for printing patient-related labels, envelopes, and accessing patient information from a centralized dialog.
Accessing the Print Patient Dialog
Select File > Edit Patient, Print Patient Labels & Postage from the menu.
Finding a Patient
The dialog includes a patient search field. Type a few letters of the patient's name and search to select the patient you want to work with.
You can also:
- Create a new patient directly from this dialog
- Edit an existing patient's record
Label and Envelope Options
Address Labels
Print adhesive address labels for the selected patient. Label format and printer are configured in Preferences > Address Labels.
Configuration options include:
- Label Printer - Select which printer to use
- Font Size - Set the font size (zero for maximum that fits)
- Horizontal/Vertical Offset - Fine-tune label positioning in pixels
- Center Horizontally - Center text on the label
- Center Each Line - Center each line individually
- Center Vertically - Center text vertically on the label
File Folder Labels
Print labels for patient file folders. Configured in Preferences > File Folder Labels.
Additional options:
- Foldover (double) labels - Print labels that fold over the file tab
- Flipped foldover - Reverse the foldover direction
- Birthdate on label - Include the patient's date of birth
- Chart Number on label - Include the chart number
- One line label - Compact single-line format
Stamped Envelopes (Stamps.com Integration)
If Stamps.com is configured, you can print postage-paid envelopes and labels:
- Print Stamped Envelope - Standard envelope with postage
- Print Stamped Flat - Large flat mailer with postage
- Print Stamped Package - Package label with postage
The system detects whether the Stamps.com printers (SDCEnvelope, SDCFlat, SDCPackage) are configured and shows a reminder to keep the Stamps.com client running during printing.
Additional Functions
From the Print Patient dialog, you can also:
- Edit Patient Plan - Open the patient's treatment plan for editing
- Open Patient Chart - Access the patient's electronic chart
Configuring Label Printing
Label printing is configured in Preferences:
- Preferences > Address Labels - Address label settings
- Preferences > File Folder Labels - File folder label settings
Both sections allow you to:
- Select the printer
- Set font size
- Adjust horizontal and vertical offsets
- Print sample labels to test alignment
